Q. Is Creighton an official CFA Program Partner?
A. Yes. Creighton is one of only 36 CFA Program Partners in the United States, and the only partner with a specialized, finance master’s available fully online. Creighton’s Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis curriculum covers a significant portion of the CFA Program® Candidate Body of Knowledge and closely aligns with the CFA Institute’s mission.1 Creighton’s program incorporates topics from all three levels of the CFA exams, and each Creighton faculty member is a CFA charter holder.

Q. Will this degree program qualify me as a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA)®?
A. No. Only individuals who pass the CFA exams are granted the CFA designation. However, the curriculum of the online Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis will help prepare you for the exams.

Q. Do I have to take the CFA exams?
A. No. Students in Creighton’s program are not required to sit for the CFA exams. Around 40% of students in the program do not plan to take the CFA exams and focus solely on the program coursework.

Q. How is the Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis different than an MBA?
A. The Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis is a specialized finance degree designed to deliver rigorous training and practice in the specific areas of portfolio management and security analysis. An MBA is a broad based degree program designed to provide management and business training that is applicable to industries beyond finance.

Q. What kinds of career opportunities are available to graduates of this program?
A. Graduates of the Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis program will be prepared to advance or start their careers as Investment Bankers, Portfolio Managers, Equity Analysts, Fixed Income Strategists and more.

Q. Is there a residency requirement?
A. No. The online Master of Investment Management and Financial Analysis can be completed entirely online and does not require an on-campus residency.

Q. How long does the program take?

Q. How many courses do I take per academic term?
A. Working students usually take one online course per eight-week session. You can expect to spend about 15 to 20 hours per week on your coursework.

Q. How many sessions a year do you offer?
A. We offer five sessions throughout the year—January, March, June, August and October.

Q. What are the admission requirements for the program?
A. Acceptance into the Investment Management and Financial Analysis graduate program is dependent on a comprehensive review of each applicant’s academic and professional credentials. Applicants should have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, preferably in a business discipline. If the applicant's degree is in a field other than business, he or she should have relevant work experience and previously completed courses in accounting, economics and statistics. Most incoming students have a minimum GMAT score of 500 and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Q. Can the GMAT requirement be waived?
A. Yes, the GMAT requirement can be waived for applicants who hold an advanced degree such as a master's or an MBA from an AACSB-accredited university. The GMAT may also be waived in cases where applicants have passed at least one level of the CFA exam or hold CPA designation.

Q. What do I need to submit to apply?
A. Applicants must submit the following documents before a candidate review can begin:

  • A completed application form
  • A personal essay describing how this master's degree fits with the applicant's career objectives
  • A current resume
  • Nonrefundable application fee of $50
  • Two recommendations from individuals other than family members who are capable of assessing the applicant's performance in an academic or work setting
  • An official transcript from each college-level institution attended by the applicant
  • GMAT score

For those international applicants from countries in which English is not the primary language must demonstrate proficiency in the English language by submitting a minimum TOEFL score of 80 iBT (213 CBT/550 PBT).
