Conflict is a fact of life. But it doesn’t have to be a bad thing: when handled skillfully, conflict can actually involve a productive process that results in growth and innovation.
Creighton University’s Master of Science in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution online degree program approaches conflict management and mediation through a wide lens, rather than simply looking at what each party wants and how to get it. Instead, you’ll learn to systematically break down conflict issues, zero in on areas of shared interest, and improve communication to reveal new vistas of opportunity.
The program can help prepare you for a successful career in conflict resolution, and given what a large part conflict plays in the world, you can apply what you learn to turbocharge your successful career in almost any endeavor.
The online Master's Degree in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution is an interdisciplinary degree offered through the WERNER INSTITUTE at the Creighton University School of Law. The program is grounded in legal problem solving, policy, and principles related to conflict management and mediation. But it also incorporates elements of business studies and the social sciences—including organizational development, psychology, sociology and communication—to help you prepare for the interpersonal element of conflict and negotiation. As a Jesuit institution, we instill a strong sense of ethics and service for others in our students and incorporate these values across the curriculum.
The program includes four concentrations that reflect employment and industry trends:
In this program, we don’t just tell you about conflict management techniques—we show you and put you in the driver’s seat. You’ll have the opportunity to practice and perfect what you learn through role playing, simulations, and group exercises at two five-day residencies at our campus in Omaha, Nebraska.
